I AM MOVING SITES

To gain more access and tools, I've thought deeply, (as the ocean fo sho) and concluded Tumblr is my new home.

I am not sure if I will be reposting some the posts I've written here, but keep checking my tumblr and you'll see.

I will still continue to write posts for The Stagg Line's Blogger and manage the two as I have before.

Let's see if this works out.

Here's my sonnet :)

A Boy’s Motion Sickness
Alisya Mora
Upon His lonely sea, He blessed me gold

Before had I cut my last twine of hope
This keeps the reach of earth's malicious mold
Less pigeons meet to tease this “foolish dope”
Now I've arrived in bright awakening
Dropping souls' bleak ingredients in love
She hatched the pop rocks that had laid in me
And seeking deep blue joy up from above
But truly is this love that I can feel?
As she sits from afar without this sense
My heart's dull contradiction starts to peel
While wondering if I'm of her presence

A wave knocked off my shades that proved her lies
For she’s reflection through dim feckless eyes.

I have a feeling there are still some mistakes, but I tried :)

Happy Thanksgiving :]

Whatever day you may be having I hope you are sharing it with the people you love most. Eat turkey, mashed potatoes and whatever pie your mother likes to bake. Get ready for a full tummy the rest of this week. Enjoy the football game, and congrats if you caught the parade. Play outside (or rake whatever is your fancy) and enjoy the atmosphere of family friends and feast. I knew I could use alliteration.

Happy Thanksgiving gobble gobble cough cough...I am ill.

Ting Tings are now GANGSTA?!

According to Yahoo, the Ting Tings have signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label as well as producing music for the two. A shock indeed.

"Jay is hoping to lend his production skills to some of the new material. The Staccato rhythmic style of The Ting Tings sits well with what he does best, so that was the attraction. Jay can make them one of the biggest British bands in America," a source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper.

Really? Well, if anyone can make an indie pop band into superstars it's Jay-Z! I think this will publicize them more, but "the biggest British bands in America?"--I think not. This isn't Donald Trump here who can just make money and fame come true, and they are certainly no Beatles.

One thing is also a question: If the Ting Tings are so tired of flying to different parts of the world away from home, why did they sign? Okay there is money. But being homesick and quote "We've seen the world. God, we've seen it about five times," is a thing they've got coming to them a whole lot more since their 2008 May tour.

What do you think? Will they succeed and become the next big band to be worshiped, or just a dub. Yea or nay?

Let's WRITE...sonnets

Yes, you've heard from "That Religious Guy" that our class is writing sonnets and having to present them memorized to the class. If not, you need to check in more often to the staggline.blogspot.com ...just saying.

I am a poem geek myself since I can remember from dinky couplets to haiku of the century--I love poetry. I love writing in general i suppose but poems are something I just like to focus more onto.

Anyhow, this project has made me realize that when writing or studying poetry, you must balance two acts: creativity and structure. Free writing is another thing, but when you're stuck writing a limerick and making it sound "punny," you got to realize the amount of paper you're willing to waste and rip from a 50 cent notebook. It's tiring and exciting, but with this project I think I may have a tougher battle with iambic pentameter. It is the road block to expressing my thoughts. How cruel.

Iambic pentameter is the structure of which I am having a hard time holding without giving my work a bit of pizazz. However, I also realized that just starting is its own road block for some of our classmates. Thus proving that not only kids should read more, but WRITE. Grammar (of which I make mistakes time to time), tone, figure of speech and so forth is important whether someone thinks so or not.

It's our language, the language of humor, heart, and mind.

So let that be a thought and maybe a poem?? -- WRITE. It's wonderful to just write whether it is poetry, journal, or just plain gibberish. Why not open yourself and see what you have inside?

A horrific saying would be: Why not cut yourself open and bleed yourself out onto the paper?
No, not emo, just plain cool.

A Toy Story Experience

Being young and restless was always my attitude from "Terrible Twos" to Kiddy Kindergarten. Thanks to my rowdy persona I can remember tons of things when I was still in diapers. I admit, my parents had a really hard time raising me; I wasn't allowed to go to the supermarket let alone Preschool. But when thinking back at childhood mishaps, I see a little bright light taking me back to my first movie theater experience at the old theater that used to be on Hammer Lane where Panda Express and Subway now take hold of.

I remember standing in line over-excited and jumpy next to my tired parents awaiting to see "Toy Story." I was roughly 2 I'm guessing since the movie came out in '95. It was the only time I did not move or say rude comments that little girls shouldn't be saying. I became obsessed with that movie just watching Woody and Buzz Lightyear on their massive journey together. Though not so obsessed by the time I saw "Pocahontas" after coming home from this experience. That's another story another day.

Just two Saturdays ago, my family and I planned to go see the 3D double-feature of "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2." I could not skip this for the world especially having it be my little brother's first movie theater experience. Just to be sure, my parents waited until he was mature enough. Which I think makes complete sense not just because of my hey-days but because who wants to go see a movie when your 8 months? The crying and the so sudden bathroom breaks; it's not a way to spend your weekend.

I can tell he was extra-excited by the way he marveled at the commercials. "I want to see that! Alisya, I want to see that!" He said as he hopped and pointed ant the TV screen. I was becoming excited for him. He was going to see his first movie at the theater, but even better.

When we got there I couldn't help myself from smiling when he walked out of the car and stood in line holding my hand while in the other he held his Woody and Buzz Lightyear dolls, ahem, action figures. His eyes grew wide looking at the entrance doors. What amazed me was he was very quiet and shy looking at the other kids in line around him.

On our way walking in to the long, dark hallway there was a kid behind us. "This is scary, I don't wanna go in," he said. I was afraid he might have influenced my brother to start turning back, but instead he said, "I like this place, it's so big huh Alisya?" My heart glowed, I was happy he finally got to enter something as simple, but exciting as the theater.

We walked in and got our seats towards the middle of the row and column. I made sure I asked for a booster for I didn't plan on him missing anything. He threw on his glasses immediately and sat patiently staring at the wide screen he's unfamiliar to. A woman next to me with her kids, noticed my brother chattering to the "Regal's First Look" the theater was displaying while people just arrived.

"Is that your brother?" She asked. I was so excited I blabbed out it was his first time going to the theaters. She then said, "Oh my, well I hope he can last sitting for 4 hours straight." "Way to go buzz kill," I thought. But what she didn't know was my brother wasn't like most kids, he knew what he was getting himself into.

Throughout the whole time I heard him laughing and and clapping it was too cute to not look at him. Only a few times we had to tell him to keep it down, but really most people around found it cute.

At the end of the day he was sleepier than ever. I carried him to the car and he fell right asleep. As soon as we got home he told everyone about his experience. Unfortunately I wasn't able to listen because I was sleepier than ever as well. Before bed, he managed to pop "Toy Story" in the VCR to watch once more for that extra sugar to your coffee I suppose; He just couldn't get enough.

For this coming up Halloween he's planning to be both Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Batman for some random reason of course. This is thus our Toy Story Experience I won't ever, EVER plan to forget.

Polanski still creating uproar

Since director Roman Polanski's arrest, it's become apparent many aren't too happy with him not serving for his crime sooner of raping a 13-year-old girl in 1977.

It's been over 30 years since his fleeting sentencing, but it's obvious Hollywood had no judgment of whether to hold this over his head much longer. However, just because he's holds a famous background he doesn't deserve to be in cold cell blocks like any other criminal?

Wrong. He does. Spite his age at age 76, it's obvious he wasn't going to be treated with a "Oh well, that was years ago." Unlike Nicole Richie and Mel Gibson, this isn't a DUI or even a simple unpaid car ticket. He broke the law, and no matter who he is, it has to be dealt with.
